Elementary Teacher - Physical Education
South Schoo is seeking a part-time (0.8 FTE) classoom teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The base salary ranges from $73,201 to $136,145 annually, plus advanced degree stipends and an H/W Benefit.
Classroom Teacher
The responsibility of the teacher is to build a positive, engaging, and rich community of learners and to carry out a program of instruction which enables students to utilize skills taught to discover, problem solve, predict, apply, and to be motivated to learn more. The program is based on the Essential Outcomes, other School Board goals and objectives, and the State of California standards. Under the direction of the principal, the teacher is responsible for planning and implementing the educational program for her/his students, for teaching skills, and for providing the opportunity and the guidance needed for intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth.
Essential Functions
1. Reflects an understanding of learning theory, curriculum guidelines, and state requirements in planning and instruction.
2. Diagnosis learning needs of children (style, modality).
3. Develop/utilize instructional material and techniques to meet diagnosed needs.
4. Evaluate and record children's academic and social growth on a continual basis, including completing progress reports. Adjusts teaching based on these results.
5. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to facilitate learning in optimum environment.
6. Conduct parent conferences to discuss student progress and interpret school program, and answer questions. Communicates informally with parents in meetings, phone conversations, and through email.
7. Counsel care for the well-being and safety of each student.
8. Cooperate as an effective school team member.
9. Maintain professional competence through in-service, classes, and dialogue.
10.Provide a functional and attractive learning environment.
11. Be a guide, resource, model, facilitator, motivator for student learning.

Physical Demands
The job of teaching includes standing, walking, jumping, running, sitting, bending, lifting 20 pounds, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, crouching, use of hands, hearing, and vision.
Vision, Hearing, Speech/Language Processing
The teacher needs clarity of vision and three-dimensional vision. They need to hear in close proximity and at a distance. A teacher needs to be able to communicate verbally, have visual and auditory comprehension, speak on the phone, have short and long-term memory recall, read and write.
Human Relations
A teacher must interact professionally and diplomatically with the public, co-workers, students, and others. A teacher must have the ability to function independently, be a decision maker and problem solver, and accept supervisory authority.
Environmental Conditions
This area has temperate climate conditions, so extreme conditions are rare. Noise is at an acceptable level for classrooms. Rarely are vibrations, hazards, or pollutant atmospheric conditions noted.
Temperament
The teacher needs to be able to direct others, express personal ideas/feelings, influence others, be flexible, and perform a variety of duties.
