Long Term Substitute - RSP Teacher
HCSD is seeking a full-time(1.0 FTE) Long Term RSP Substitute Teacher from August 21, 2024 tentatively through January 10, 2025. The Long Term Sub rate is $325/ day.
General Description
The responsibility of the teacher is to carry out a program of instruction which enables students to utilize skills taught to discover, to problem solve, to predict and be motivated to learn more. The program is based on the School Board and State of California Goals and Objectives. Under the direction of the principal, the teacher is responsible to plan and implement the educational program for their students, teach skills, and provide intellectual growth. The area of concentration in Special Education with mild/moderate credential.
Essential Functions
1. Provides consultant services or workshops (in-service) to teachers for identification and assessment of learning and behavioral patterns in children.
2. Evaluates the referrals of students for special education programs and
services: conducts assessments as required by special education law.
3. Provides instruction in groups and one-on-one to students assigned to the
Resource Specialists Program in the areas identified in the Individual
Education Program (IEP).
4. Writes IEP’s and includes goals which emphasizes academic
achievement, study skill development, appropriate school behaviors.
5. Develops curriculum and adapts curriculum and materials to meet the
individual student’s needs.
6. Evaluates and documents progress on a regular basis.
7. Provides resource information, materials and assistance to eligible
students, their parents and school staff.
8. Consults with administrators, parents, teachers, psychologists, nurses,
principal, and other professionals as needed.
9. Meets with classroom teachers to plan and evaluate modifications to the
students’ general education plan.
10. Performs scheduling, recordkeeping, supply and material requisitioning,
and other administrative tasks.
11. Arranges special education classroom to meet students’ needs.
12. Directs the special education assistant.
Tools/Equipment
A teacher effectively uses an electronic presentation system, which includes, but is not limited to, a computer, interactive whiteboard, document camera, projector, and media player. A teacher also utilizes a photocopy machine, fax machine, and other standard office equipment. Finally, a teacher effectively utilizes student data systems, hardware, and software utilized by the district.
Physical Demands
The job of teaching includes standing, walking, sitting, bending, lifting 20 pounds, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, crouching, use of hands, hearing, and vision.
Vision, Hearing, Speech/Language Processing
A teacher must effectively, precisely, and persuasively communicate both verbally and in writing. Visual, auditory, and reading comprehension must be high, and short and long term memory is necessary. Speaking effectively in person, in small groups, in large groups, and on the telephone is required.
Human Relations
A teacher must interact professionally and diplomatically with the public, co-workers, students, and others. A teacher must have the ability to function independently, be a decision maker and problem solver, and accept supervisory authority.
Environmental Conditions
This area has temperate climate conditions, so extreme conditions are rare. Noise is at an acceptable level for classrooms. Rarely are vibrations, hazards, or pollutant atmospheric conditions noted.
Temperament
The teacher needs to be able to direct others, express personal ideas/feelings, influence others, be flexible, perform a variety of duties, and have excellent responsibility and follow-through.
