HCSD is seeking an Accountant to support our Chief Business Official in technical accounting and budgeting duties. Salary range is between $49.01-$59.57/hr.

BASIC FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Chief Business Official, perform a variety of complex and technical accounting and budgeting duties in support of assigned accounts and functions; maintain, review, and adjust assigned accounts; process, record, and audit various transactions; prepare and maintain a variety of manual and automated financial, budgetary records, reports, and statements.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Perform a variety of professional accounting and budgetary work involved in the monitoring, development, analysis, maintenance, auditing, adjustment and reconciliation of various accounts, funds, and budgets in support of school sites and departmental District functions.
Calculate, assemble, match, sort, review, code and post a variety of financial and statistical data; research, prepare, and audit various fiscal statements, records, and reports to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with applicable standards, requirements, laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Maintain the budgets and ledgers of all District accounts to reflect revenues and expenditures; balance, reconcile, or audit the reconciliation of various accounts and bank statements as directed; identify and resolve discrepancies; initiate adjustments, transfers, and journal entries as appropriate.
Set up, balance, and clear year-end accruals and suspense accounts; support the Senior Account Technician and Food Services and Business Specialist positions and serve as back up for either function as needed.
Ensure all Business Services records are properly stored, digitally in the Business Records & Retention share drive, or physically if needed at the District Office or at the District-contracted offsite storage facilities; work with school sites and other departments to ensure proper physical storage of their records.
Schedule and coordinate major business events, such as the Annual Business Meeting, and meetings for adopted and interim budgets, interim and year-end financial audits, and year-end closing activities.
Support and train District staff, supervisors, administrators, and others concerning Business Services; respond to inquiries and provide technical information concerning related accounts, budgets, transactions, records, laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Communicate with District personnel and various outside agencies to exchange information, coordinate activities, resolve issues or concerns, and provide reports as requested or mandated.
Participate in the analysis, development, and implementation of accounting and budgetary processes and procedures for continuous improvement of Business Services.
Operate a variety of office equipment including but not limited to a computer and necessary software programs, copier, fax machine, calculator etc.
Perform various clerical duties as needed for the Accountant position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field and two years’ professional accounting experience performing various financial analysis, auditing, record-keeping and report preparation duties. School district business experience is preferred.
